For the City of Wickenburg, American Asphalt provided
a broad range of paving services on the municipal
airport hanger aprons and taxiway.
Because of the heavy loads on the airport hanger aprons, special techniques
and meterials were required. Nearly 30,000 linear feet of cracks were
routed to create a reverse resevoir ensuring uniform crack filling.
American Asphalt is an expert at the application of hot rubberized
crack sealants such as Poly-Flex III which was used on the Wickenburg
Airport. In addition, herbacide was applied to all cracks to prevent
vegetation growth.
After filling all cracks and sandblasting existing markings, 60,595
square yards of asphalt was resurfaced. Finally, 11,900 square feet
of pavement markings were applied.
A special requirement was to maintain normal aircraft traffic during
revamping. Working closely with the airport management, a work schedule
was created which allowed the airport to operate with minimal restrictions.
Because of the extensive preplanning, the work was completed in one-third
of the allotted time. |
